Hello and welcome to mini episode 20 of Real Life

I've got two gorgeous listener episodes for you today. I've done it again. It's not an

listener episode is it, it's a listener story. Yeah. Yeah. I just want to point out, you know, as

grateful as I am that our listeners send us these stories and as interesting as they are,

they're never really beautiful. Are they? We haven't had any stories about

picnics or family holidays or like I built a six foot tower out of Lego today. That's the kind of

stories I'm for. I live for those. Well, maybe one of our stories today will be a story like that

because the first story comes from Dan. I didn't think you'd read the one I submitted. Are you ready?

Go for it. This happened roughly 10 years ago. I was 16 at the time and my family and I had just

moved into our new home in the suburbs just outside of Toronto, Canada. It was a beautiful house.

Nothing about its visible architecture or aesthetic suggested haunted. However, weird things

seemed to occur upon the first day of moving in. Having it be our first night, all our belongings

were still in boxes and our furniture wasn't scheduled to arrive till the next day. So we all

slept on the floor in our respective rooms. Now, it could just have been my brain acting weird trying

to acclimatize to the new home. But throughout the entirety of my first night in the new house,

I could not shake the feeling that someone was watching me while I slept. You know that feeling

when your parents come into check if you're sleeping and when you're a kid and you'd fake being

asleep until you felt like they were no longer watching you? Well, it felt like that. But the feeling

never left. I eventually fall asleep. Not the best-niced rest of my life, but being 16, I could go

straight 48 hours without shut-eye and feel completely wired. When I woke up, I could distinctly feel

that being watched feeling again. I remember waking up and facing my door which was closed.

And I remember feeling really uneasy having a view of my door, fearing it might open on its own or
