Ross Colthard, my co-host, is, like we like to say in the news business, on assignment.

Just a couple of pieces of housekeeping.

Kind of interesting that this year, we have been nominated, the Need to Know podcast has been nominated by the Roswell Daily Record Film Festival as Best Web Series.

I don't know what the history of this award is, but as they say in the Hollywood business

that I'm in, it's an honor just to be nominated.

So we thank the Roswell Film Festival.

I'll be speaking there this year.

They're June 30th through July 2nd. I guess I'm doing something every day there, main speech on Friday. And I'm trying to

figure out a way to make some news and make some noise at the same time. Also, there's, you know,

panels, and I'll be part of those. Now, the thing is, you may wonder what my life

is like right now. I'm still on strike at the Writers Guild, but we're coming up on a month now.

And when you're on strike, it means you can't write on covered projects that are film or television,

which means pencils down, as we like to say, even though that's an anachronism and nobody

uses a pencil anymore. My pencils are down for Hollywood film and TV projects, but that does

mean that I can work on my book because a book is not covered. So it's interesting. The topic that I'm

speaking on at Roswell is basically close encounters of the Hollywood kind. And guess what? That's the

title of the book. And depending on how long the strike lasts, I might even get it finished.

But I'm working on that proposal now. Hope to get it out soon.
