So we'll go ahead and get started, and tonight we're starting, perhaps even finishing,

St. Paul's second epistle to the Thessalonians. This one is going to have a relatively

short introduction because we just finished first

Thessalonians and we had the introduction for that and all that still applies.

It's still the city of Thessalonica that St. Paul is writing to.

He writes this second letter about a year so the the usual dating is that his first

epistle to the Thessalonians was written around 50 AD and then that would put second

Thessalonians around 51 AD and we're going to see this is a letter coming from the same author, St. Paul, with St.

Timothy and St. Sylvannis.

And it's even going to be addressing some of the same topics, or at least related topics.

I don't want to do too much preview now because we may get through it the next hour or so.

But we saw in First Thessalonians sort of the central sort of teaching part was talking about the resurrection of the dead as it relates to

the return of Christ.

And so this is a very short epistle.

We're getting toward the end of St.

Paul's epistles.

And as we mentioned back when we started Romans, they're arranged from longest to shortest.

So you may have noticed they've been getting shorter.

They're going to keep getting shorter.
