Sable wants him. I was in Hollywood and we were having a blast. And I just decided to go with it

because what else was I going to do? You expect when out and about in Los Angeles to sometimes see a celebrity.

But there's another level of magic when you spot, not a movie star, but a cult icon.

Seeing one of those local LA legends is like seeing a shooting star.

This happened to me on the night of my 30th birthday,

when I got a bunch of friends into a show at the Trubidor. So I got ready in an outfit I based

on literally no joke, a picture of Pamela DeBar from 1968, and then I took a group of friends

to Dantanas, where I had a redacted number of martinis,

and then we went to the troubadour and after we would walk up the hills for the rainbow for drinks,

because at that point, why not?

So I was relieving the troubadour, starting our walk up to the strip.

I looked behind me over my right shoulder just to make sure a couple of my

friends were straggling behind. And there, right behind me on Santa Monica and Ohini was Pamela

DeVar, the legend, the icon, the groupy queen of Los Angeles. I had an out-of-body experience, which thankfully, 18 months later, Pamela told me she did not recall.

I'm sure she's used to that shit, but for me it was a relief that I got being starstruck

out of my system before we actually met, which was when I went over to her house one spring
