And if we remember also at the beginning of First Samuel, right, the disillusion of the integrity

of Israel, the reason the people ask Samuel to give them a king is because Samuel's sons are wicked.

And so the book began with Eli's sons being wicked and Eli not rebuking them.

Samuel's sons being wicked and there didn'tuking them. Samuel's sons being wicked, and there doesn't seem to be any

evidence of correction or rebuke. And now David is in the exact same place.
