Today on Searchlight, we are beginning a study through the Book of Second Samuel. This book is really a continuation of First Samuel. In that book we saw Israel

transitioning from being ruled by judges to being ruled by Saul their first king.

But Saul turned his back on the Lord and eventually God

chose another king, David. But David has not been crowned as king yet and we saw

that most of the time David has been running from Saul who

was trying to kill him. The primary focus of Second Samuel will be on David as

he becomes King of Israel.

But as we begin our study today, we still have some unfinished business with King Saul.
