Today, the Bible Study podcast continues the study of 2nd Peter with chapter 2.

We continue on with chapter two.

There's rather a long chapter compared to what we did last week, false teachers and their destruction.

Because this is so long, I'm going to break with my usual tradition of reading the entire thing and then going back.

And I'm going to do it one paragraph at a time just because it's going to be a little easier.

But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers

among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign

lord who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.

In their greed, these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories.

Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

This is not good news, but it is something that has been true since the time of Peter

here in the first century churches that there will be some who speak as if they are part of the body

and they are wolves in sheep's clothing as the term that Jesus used.

They will be false teachers and false

teachers is an interesting expression because we get the impression that it would be like a

cult or something like that there's somebody who is is wrong in all so many things and yet

that's not necessarily what Peter is talking about here.

It's destructive heresy.
