The classic tales of Ancient Greece have become so incorporated with our language and thought and so interwoven with our literature - that we couldn't do away with them if we tried. yet many don't receive any of the stories of this ancient culture in our schools. Almost every day we hear names like the Titans, Zeus, Jupiter, Mercury, Pluto, Poseidon, Venus, and Prometheus- and these all come from ancient Greek stories.
Here are three James Baldwin stories that retell the Greek versions with less emphasis on the Greek gods and more on the stories themselves. Enjoy!
