Israel crosses into the land of Israel going through the waters of the Jordan,

and we've just seen the waters of the Jordan with regard to Elijah and Elisha and their movements

as they've been reenacting different elements of the Passover and of the conquest.

So I would just say that I think here as well the same idea is at play that Neiman is participating in passing through

us back to where we've been.

How does the author of Second Kings want us to sort of understand where we are in the flow

of the narrative?

Well, one of the main ideas of the previous chapter that we need to remember is that

the prophet Elisha is establishing in the argument of the book that if God's people are going to have

spiritual life, if they are going to be resurrected from the dead, then that's going to come
