Last episode in chapter two, Elijah took Elijah on a spiritual journey. The journey was important

0:16.5

because Elijah was preparing Elijah to take over his lead prophet. Each location that Elijah took

0:22.7

him had significant meaning for Israel's history. When they had crossed the Jordan River,

0:27.5

their final destination, Elijah asked Elijah for one thing, a double portion of his spirit. Then,

0:35.1

Elijah was taken up to heaven. Elijah was left on his own and began his journey back

0:41.2

the way he'd come. On the way, he begins to build his resume as a prophet with miracles. Elijah's

storm, provision, which was usually a miraculous supply of food or resources like the manna in

1:43.6

the desert. And then sometimes miracles are judgment.

1:48.3

Their acts of divine judgment, such as the plagues of Egypt. So in chapter two, Elijah performed his

1:55.4

first three miracles. The first was a nature miracle, the parting of the Jordan. The second was a nature healing

2:04.5

miracle, the purification of the water that healed the barreness in the land. And the third was a judgment

2:11.3

miracle, the bear mauling, the scoffing mob. So we kind of had examples right there in his first three miracles.

2:19.3

Now there is a reason that the documentation of these miracles was important. And it was because

2:25.2

in verse 9 of chapter 2, Elisha asked Elijah for a double portion of his spirit. Elijah answered
