Thursday nights we're going through 2nd Kings chapter by chapter verse by

verse tonight we're gonna go big man we're gonna go two chapters so don't look at me

like that oh ye of little faith we can do it might take us till 11 p.m. but we'll

no it won't it won't why don't we? We'll ask God's blessing on our time together,

if you would join with me. Loving Heavenly Father, we so look forward to our time together

in your word on Thursday nights. It's that time during the week where we can just put everything aside and focus our attention

on you and you alone and without any of the distractions from the busyness of the day and the

cares and the affairs of the week.

Lord, we just want to tonight give you our

undivided attention. And as we do, we would just ask that you would speak into

our lives, in and through your word. So Lord, thank you in advance for what you have

for us tonight in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, let's jump in. Verse 1, chapter 11.

When Athalia, the mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal

heirs. But Jehashaba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash,

the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king's sons who were being

murdered and they hid him and his nurse in the bedroom from Athalia so that

he was not killed. So verse 3, he was hidden with her in the house of the Lord for interesting

six years while Athalia reigned over the land. Well, we're off to a very wicked start

once again and were introduced to this evil woman by the name of Athalia who actually was

the daughter of one Ahab and Jezebel, which probably explains a lot.

At least it explains why she does what we're told she does here, which is, if you can believe it,

she's murdering her own grandchildren.
