The Whole Council of God. Father Stephen is a former Protestant pastor and Bible teacher in the

Reformed Church, but now an Orthodox priest serving at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church

in Lafayette, Louisiana.

We'll go ahead and get started.

And when we start here in just a moment,

we'll be picking up at the beginning of chapter 10 of St. Paul's second epistle to the Corinthians.

We've had a little break since the last time, so to kind of get us

caught up, and we don't need too much catch-up because this is actually a point where St. Paul

kind of transitions in his topic. So he's starting a kind of a new topic here.

But where we left off last time was basically what we talked about last time was St.

Paul sort of getting to the matter of the collection that he was taking up as he traveled to the different churches

that he was planting in these various cities.

We talked about how in the church in Jerusalem, number one was composed, obviously, primarily

of Jewish people, of Jude Judeans and they were not Roman

citizens they were therefore not wealthy people as we know for the book of Acts there was a

famine going on in Judea at this time which of course would have affected them the most.

Obviously, the poorer you are, the harder hit you are by a famine.

And so we have this church that's really sort of the mother church of the whole church at this point

that sent St. Paul out on his, his missionary

journeys. And they're suffering due to what's happening. And so St. Paul, obviously, most of his

converts, as we've talked about before, most of the people who he has are true converts.
