Chapter 5 starts like this,

awaiting the new body. For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile, we groan,

longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling because when we are

clothed we will not be found naked but while we are in this tent we groan and are burdened because we do not

wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling so that what is mortal may be

swallowed up by life.

Now the one who has fashioned us for this purpose is God,

who has given us the spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

I'm going to start with the end and then end up in the beginning here,

which is that God has given the spirit as a deposit,

in the sense that what God intends is communion

with us forever, okay?

And that the Holy Spirit indwelling in us, enabled by what Christ did for us, that sacrifice,

that God can spend time in our hearts is the beginning of that long-term

relationship with God.

And that we live here in the now.

We live here in this time with these flawed, these out of shape, sometimes, these decaying sometimes, or at least getting older bodies.

And we long to have that permanent body. We long to have that permanent connection with God
