Would you turn in your Bibles, please, to Second Chronicles?

Now, as you're turning to Second Chronicles in your Old Testament, a word of explanation,

we go through the Bible on Wednesday nights.

Typically, we do Old Testament book, New Testament book, Old Testament book, New Testament book.

But when we were going through, I think, Kings,

we just combined first and second, and we're doing that again with Samuel because we're going

through this chronologically with David and now Solomon. And I just figured, look, we're there. Let's

just knock out Second Chronicles while we're

at it. So you'll see for tonight and probably for a few weeks this photograph of Jerusalem,

a different photograph than we had for the last Bible study, which was taken of this city from

the other side. But this is a picture that I shot on Mount Scopus,

which is next to the Mount of Olives at about 5.30 in the morning

when the sun was just coming out, but the lights were still there in the city.

And you're basically looking with that golden dome that you see,

that is the Temple mount. That is

the area that once housed the temple during Jesus' time called Herod's Temple or the second

temple. And then before that, the Temple of Solomon, now we have this Islamic Mosque, but at one time it was the temple that Solomon built.

So this is the area of the Temple Mount 47 acres that is encircled by a wall, and just we'll use

that as our backdrop. But let's have a word of prayer. Father, we pray that as we open our Bibles and open our hearts, you would open your word to us.

And your voice would be heard in the words of Scripture on the pages that we turn.
