I'm John Batser with my colleague Brett Arrens of Market Watch return on investment.

I call upon Brett when there's been a market crash.

Could be, but this time there's not.

In fact, there's no crash whatsoever except for maybe there's a untoward direction

in the bond market, which is a mystery to me.

However, I do want to know what happens next.

We have a possibility of two more cuts in 2024.

Is that significant, Brett, another quarter point so that we end, another quarter point,

so that we end the year a full basis point down? Is that a positive or is that just direction?

Well it's just direction what I find most interesting about that is that you know

Powell and the the committee are talking about one or two cuts but Wall Street doesn't believe

that Wall Street is already pricing in three 75 basis points, three cuts between

now and the end of the year.

So they're already, Wall Street is already

bullishly betting on further deep cuts

as well as further cuts next year.

So, how I think spent three years

sort of establishing his authority over the bond market

has now let it slip.

China, China is in trouble.

Does that inform Powell is he correcting?

We were also told to look for interest rate cuts in central banks around the world.
