0:08.0	You know, lately I have been getting a ton of emails and messages from viewers saying, you
0:14.8	know, David, we know intellectually that Republicans are not going to stay on top forever.
0:23.2	But when you look at the Democratic Party and how it seems impotent and failing, I find myself
0:30.5	asking, will Democrats ever win again?
0:34.2	In other words, the fact that no party wins forever is true, but also is this
0:41.1	a Democratic party that can defeat anybody? And it's a fair question. And I think couching
0:46.5	it like that the way many of you are doing makes sense. Historically, we know that there is
0:51.9	a cyclical aspect to political power. even though at the 30,000 foot
0:57.8	level, things may be moving one way or the other.
1:00.6	And I believe in general, they are moving towards the left rather than the right with
1:04.5	regard to beliefs about most issues.
1:07.7	We still have to understand the cyclicality of individual election cycles.
1:12.8	And remember when the Republican Party believed after Ronald Reagan's 1984 landslide, we've
1:18.6	locked it up.
1:19.6	It's going to be decades.
1:21.5	And then of course in 1992, just eight years later, Bill Clinton became president and then
1:26.0	easily won reelection in 1996.
1:28.3	And what were supposed to be eight years of Republican rule ended up being Bill Clinton's
1:32.8	Democratic administration.
1:36.0	Democrats also assumed that Barack Obama's 2008 blowout would be the mark of a new progressive
1:43.1	era.
