Wow hey welcome back to church very nice to see you isn't it weird to go to

church in clothes I mean you're not on your couch you're not in your pajamas

the nine o'clock didn't know this let me tell you could clap you could share you could say

amen but you can't throw anything those are the rules here for live service and I'm really

and families that will help you learn God's Word this summer and if you got a family there's

even devotional discussion questions for your family at night so let me set up the book of

first feeder as you find the first page it is set in the ancient Roman Empire tell me of this

sounds familiar the Roman Empire was in its day the world super power the strongest economy the

most powerful military and it was in the process as a nation of self-destructing I don't know if

this sounds familiar what was happening is the Roman Empire despite its wealth and despite its

power it was a geographically large nation and it was comprised of people from lots of different

ethnicities and cultures and races and languages and backgrounds and ideologies and all of this was

competing and people were conflicted and the the teams were divided and the the guns were drawn

and the opposition was real and in the middle was the the new movement of Christianity the Church

of Jesus Christ they were a smaller group feeling lots of pressure to join one of these groups

that was having this massive national collision and compromise over how life was to be lived in that

nation and what was happening is as the nation was divided and in the process of self-destructing
