I have long felt like our voting system is both annexated and unfair.

And for people to claim they represent you and your interest is totally bogus.

I feel like the election systems should be completely overhauled and I really think

that nobody who wants to be an office should be.

About half of all eligible American voters cast a ballot in the recent midterm elections

according to the US elections project, a non-partisan research project at the University

of Florida to track voting data and election laws.

That's on par with the 2018 midterms but it's down from the two thirds of eligible Americans

who made their voices heard in 2020.

And unprecedented number of candidates who ran this cycle cast doubt on the integrity

of our elections and they repeated former president Donald Trump's falsehood that the

election was stolen from him.

But even beyond those election deniers, many Americans have doubts that our centuries-old

voting system is working properly to represent the dramatically different society and democracy

we live in today.

So how should voters decide who represents us?

What tweaks could we make to the current system?

How can we let candidates who represent the racial, cultural, and ideological diversity

of the United States in 2022?

We'll take on these questions and more as part of One A's Remaking America series where

we explore Americans, trusted institutions, and the health of our democracy.
