Episode 1996: Developing a Routine by Danae Smith of This Wondrous Life on Putting Your Routine Into Reality Danae Smith is East Coast born and raised, but a West Coast girl at heart, She is the founder of This Wondrous Life, a lifestyle blog, rooted in pursuing a life lived simply, slowly, and with community. Over the years, Danae has found her heart pulled so strongly towards living a slower, more simple life. and I'm Justin Mollick. Happy Saturday and welcome to one of the only podcasts in the world where

blogs are narrated to you for free that's with permission from the authors. If you enjoy it,

sharing it with anyone would be greatly appreciated. I'll keep this short for the Saturday episodes,

0:22.7

so let's get right to it and start optimizing your life. Developing a routine by Dene Smith of

this wondrouslife.com. This a takes 21 days to form a habit, so I knew once June hit,

0:40.6

this dream routine I created to make room for more was out the window. This realization hit me as

0:46.4

I boarded my flight to Dublin, Ireland. I mean smack dab in the middle of me attempting to grab

0:51.0

a hold in my life, I signed up for an adventure, with no regrets. However, in all honesty,

0:57.4

I created the routine back in May, but kept putting off the implementation of it. Yes, I had it all

1:02.9

written out using the fun your routine worksheet, was all proud of what I was choosing to protect and

1:07.8

release. Yet somehow, could not get it off the ground and to top it off, I was going across the pond,

1:13.7

so in my mind it was a wrap. And ultimately, it was. After Ireland, I could feel my world spiraling,

1:21.8

not necessarily downward or even upward, just all over. There was a lack of structure in my world,

1:27.7

once July hit, and it pretty much continued for the rest of 2017. Yes, if you saw me, there was

1:33.5

some semblance of order. My woke up, clocked into work, clocked out, went home, either went out

1:40.0

that evening or stayed in and binge Netflix. So yeah, that's a routine, but by golly is not the

1:45.7

routine I created or dreamed of. So now, as I write this post, I contemplate what this all looks like

1:52.7

in my life this year. What rhythm has my day to day life taken? And is it the beat I don't want to

1:58.6

keep dancing to? What routine have I fallen into? And is it the routine that makes room for what

2:03.9

matters or just a matter of convenience? Tough questions requiring real answers. You see, the rhythm

2:11.4

my day to day has taken is one of the bare minimum. I go through each day doing what needs to be done
