Hey, you're on air with Ella, and today I want to talk to you about a concept that I'm calling

form before performance, which of course I will explain. But first, let me tell you what

inspired my need to talk about this with you. There are two phenomena of the human condition

that I not only observe, but that I experience myself.

And I recently did a show on atomic habits that I really hope you'll go back and listen to.

In fact, it was the last show. So that's pretty easy.

It just got me thinking so much. And the two observations that I want to make is whenever we are trying to pursue something,

like a goal, a target of some kind, and achievement, number one, we want the outcome

when we want it. Okay? Like, it sounds simple. We want the outcome when we want it,

like on our terms. And the second tendency that I observe regularly is that we beat

ourselves up for not being at a destination at which we believe that we should have already arrived.

Okay, I'm going to say that again. We beat ourselves up for not having arrived at the destination

that we think we should have already reached.
