It's a rainy day in St. Louis.

The weatherman has come along now with the forecast that it might stop raining for a while,

and we might be able to squeeze in the ballgame between the showers.

It has been raining off and on all night and all morning.

In fact, the most recent shower about 45 minutes ago here in St. Louis.

But now the ground crew at work getting the field in shape. AstroTurf here in St. Louis.

It has been sponged off. The infield dirt was covered by the tarp.

It is not being dressed up and we should be underway with

a ball game in a very few moments. It's a big day in the life of young Doug Rao out of Columbus,

Texas, and he came to the Dodgers by way of Albuquerque and a couple of good seasons in the

miners. For Doug, he is making his first major league start, although he pitched earlier this year

for the Dodgers just about a month ago, in fact, at Cooperstown, New York in the exhibition game against the New York Yankees. In that game, Rao pitched three strong innings, developed a blister on his pitching hand, and had to come out after the Yankees got to him. But Rao went back to Albuquerque, finished up in a blaze of glory, and he's with us now,
