Good evening everybody from Yankee Stadium. It's Yankee baseball time.

I'm Frank Messer along with Bill Rizzuto and Bill White.

On another, well, sort of a chilly evening with a breeze blowing toward right field.

And tonight the New York Yankees will try to get back on the winning track

after losing last night's ball game to the Oakland A's in 12 in

20s by a score of 4 to 3 on a finchette double by former Yankee teammate Mike

Egan and Phil Rosito I'd have to say tonight the Yankees will certainly have their

work cut out for them because they're going against Dennis McLean.

And even though McLean was a 22-game loser for the Washington Senators last year,

I've got to feel that with a winning ball club, a contending ball club, which Oakland is,

McLean will come back and very possibly reverse that one loss record.

Well, I'm sure you're right, Frank. I expect Jenny McLean to have a big year this year.

He won his first start for Oakland. They said he didn't have his good stuff, but with that impeccable

control that he has with a club like he has behind him, he's going to be rough.

And as we look down his lifetime mark against the Yankees, he's 1.15 and lost eight.

So, as you say, the Yankees got their work cut out for the one thing they know that he's around

the plate.

And he's a fellow like you don't have to worry too much about you can really dig in.

He's got good control. And if it's not too good, we might see a little extra hitting that.

That is probably the reason that McLean has in the past led the league in home runs given up by a pitcher.

Absolutely.

Same thing happened to Robin Roberts, who was a big winning pitcher, but yet year after year, he'd lead the league in giving up home run.
