As usual, I am your host, Jesse Lefranbois. And our topic for discussion today is quite the

hot button issue, definitely. We're going to be talking about taxation. So there's a lot of different

perspectives, especially in this previous election. this was one of the issues that was discussed

at length. It was one of the issues that the Conservative Party mainly campaigned on was

axing carbon tax. And so it's something that's been discussed a lot recently. So we thought

that it would be a good use of our time to take an episode to discuss taxation and more specifically this idea

of Tax Freedom Day. So before we jump into what exactly this is, Aaron, I'm curious just for

our listeners who have maybe never heard of this concept before, What exactly is Tax Freedom Day 2025?

All right.

Well, I'm happy to answer that question.

But first, I was originally going to do a podcast talking about the discussions that are

taking place in government in Canada about possibly taking away tax exemption, as they call it,

status for churches.

And as I was preparing that, I realized a friend of mine, Mike Teeson had done a similar one

a week or two back on the Ezra Institute.
