Well, the crowd is still pouring into Jerry Park.

We can see back of the left field features a long line of fans making their way to the ticket booths.

And then into the ballpark, a lot of them coming through the turnstiles right now

and through the walkways, the ramps leading to their seats.

Too early to make an estimate on the crowd, but a good crowd for a 405 afternoon game. The Expos were indeed

happy at the fine turnout last night, over 19,000 fans for the first night game of the season

at Jerry Park. The Expos were delighted at the turnout, but the players themselves, I know

manager Gene Mock, were not delighted at the outcome. Sure, they wanted

to win last night's ball game, but even more so because of the big crowd that turned out

and was ready to cheer them on. That cheer that went up for John Bateman's home run to tie the

scored one-all in the seventh inning last night was really something to hear. So the expos

will try to salvage at least one

game out of this three-game series as they go against the New York Mets this afternoon. Well, Bill Stalman

has just about completed as a pre-game warm-up pitches with battery mate John Bateman. The first

man in the Mets order he'll face will be the shortstop, Bud Harrelson, to be followed by Rod Gaspar and Ken Boswell.

And stepping up to the microphone with the play-by-play broadcast

of the first part of this afternoon's game, Dave Van Horn.
