The Spartans of Michigan State versus the Wolverines of Michigan.

Hello everybody, this is Tom Henningway.

And today again we have the Spectacle of Spectacle, the annual Michigan State

Michigan football game before over 100,000 fans here at Bright Sunfield, Michigan Stadium this afternoon.

Well, they say football is a game of emotion and never is it more emotional than in a Michigan

State Michigan football game. Michigan trying to defeat the Michigan State Spartans

in Ann Arbor for the first time since 1955.

State, by winning today,

could tie the longest winning streak

in this series of four straight.

For the 21st straight time,

the game is a sell-out.

And since 1948,

more than 1,900,000 people have watched this game in either Michigan Stadium or Spartan Stadium in East Lansing.

Both teams have returned to the field.

They've had the flip of the coin between the captains.

John Johnson of Michigan

and Al Brenner of Michigan State. Michigan won the toss elected to receive while Michigan State

has gone with the wind here in this first quarter and will defend the southern end zone and will

have a wind of about seven miles an hour to their back. A game bill is a a battle between the Spartans, quarterback, Bill Carole, who specializes

in both the running in a passing game.
