Manager Casey Stingling on the Mets has stopped the sling in the dugout before the ballgame.

He had his right arm, his right hand, in a sling.

Yesterday, as the Mets played an exhibition game against the Army at West Point,

as Casey was coming out of the gymnasium,

he fell on the concrete as he hung his spikes and sustained a broken right wrist. But he says that he's

in great shape, and so coming out to present the lineup cards, he took the sling off before he

arrived at home place, and he's there not going over the ground's rules with Ken Boyer, the captain

of the St. Louis Cardinals. Cardinals, of course, are the defending world

champions. And right now on the field, Leonard Coppitt, chairman of the Baseball Rights Association of

American New York Chapter, is presenting the Babe Ruth Award to Cardinal pitcher Bob Gibson.

Bob was warming up, and he stopped warming up to walk over now, and take the plaque from Leonard Coppet.

As you know, last year, Bob Gibson won two games and lost one for the St. Louis Cardinals.

During the season, he won 19 games.

He had a great world service, and this presentation is being made by the New York Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America

on the basis of Bob Gibson's performance

in the World Series last year.
