Summary

In the aftermath of JFK’s assassination, Lyndon Johnson fights to shed the mantle of accidental president. But as he strives to carry forward Kennedy’s legacy, he faces a barrage of opposition from a divided Democratic party. Meanwhile, across the aisle, the Republicans fight to mount a defense as they rally around a conservative candidate who hopes to redefine the word Republican: Barry Goldwater.

0:18.2	A senator from Minnesota, Hubert Humvery, stands nervously outside the office of his colleague,
0:23.3	a senator from Texas, Lyndon Baines Johnson.
0:26.5	Johnson, or LBJ, as he's known, is about to make a big play for a big position, Senate
0:31.8	Minority Leader, and LBJ wants Humphrey's support.
0:35.6	In a group meeting earlier today, LBJ asks Humphrey to back him, but Humphrey declined,
0:40.7	telling LBJ he plans to vote for Montana Senator James Murray.
0:44.7	Now Humphrey has been summoned back to Johnson's office for a one-on-one.
