The big news here at the ballpark, of course the game itself, but Whitey Ford.

Ford had a little bit of a press conference, so to speak.

They finally announced that Whitey Ford has a sore arm.

I talked to Dr. Gainer, who is a team physician for the New York Yankees, and Dr. Gainer

did not seem alarmed. He said it's the condition he's had for four or five years.

It's a circulatory problem, and when the series is all over, we'll sit down, go over thoroughly, and then make a decision.

So it hasn't been a heel, it hasn't been a strawberry, it's been a sword arm that's

kept Whitey Ford out of the World Series as regular as we are used to seeing him.

Whitey had quite a line in the club out after the game when, of course, the Yankees

is very happy to tie it up, going to the seventh game.

Whitey Ford was shaving.

He looked over at Coach Jim Gleason.

And he said, Jim, here it is. The final game coming up. He said, did you think it would be like this when we went to spring training down in Hollywood, Florida, about six years ago?

Just about how long it seemed the way they've been battling both these ball clubs. The clubs are very loose during batting practice.

You didn't really feel a whole lot of tension.

If there is any tension, they hit it pretty well.

Johnny Keene of the St. Louis Cardinals, the manager, he puts it very simply.

He says, we're ready, we're happy to be here.

Yogi, as only Yogi can say it, he says, we're ready, we're real happy to be here. Yogi, as only Yogi can say it, he says we're ready. We're real happy to be

here and at least we all know that we're going to go home after the game today.

So that's how excited Yogi was about it.

Gibson, the pitcher for the Cardinals, warming up right now, is sore all over.
