You know, little as you think about it, or maybe you have thought about it, I would say

that this series is about as hazardous a one as the Yankees can encounter, because they have

just come through that very demanding marathon, six ball games in 50 hours and 25 minutes,

and won five out of six, and they had to go all out, and they knew it.

Their first place existed hanging.

And now against the eighth place ball club, and knowing they've got a big series coming

up in Baltimore for ball games, this is a spot where you have to be doubly careful that you do not have a serious letdown.

As far as the athletics are concerned, they've lost about all they can lose.

They're about as free and easy as they can be.
