Good afternoon, everybody. This is Bob Delaney, speaking to you from Yankee Stadium in New York,

where this afternoon the Yankees and the Orioles conclude their two games series. The Yankees

winning the first two games and trying for the sweep today. They'll send Jim Coates to the mound.

Coach's pitch opening day for the Yankees and beat the Boston Red Sox. He'll be opposed by Bill Fisher of the Baltimore Orioles.

Weather-wise, the weather has cleared off after a cloudy morning.

Thunder showers overnight, the temperature in the 50s,

but the sun is coming through the high sky,

and it would appear that we're going to have a pleasant afternoon

for the baseball game. Red Barber is at the controls. We'll be picking him up in just a moment.

Coach swings into the wind-up and here is the first pitch of the ball game. It's way outside

ball once.

Mantle isn't kind of field, but when he first came out onto the field, it was a question whether he could play or not. Remember yesterday, he put a foul down on his right foot,

and his right toe is swollen and quite painful.

Coats delivers the call strike.

When Mickey came out on the bench, he said to Casey,

I don't think I can do it, but I want to go out and see if I can loosen it up.

He said, well, all right, if you can play, fine.

If not, I'll have somebody out there.

So Mickey ran around and found that he quit stand the pressure and he's going.
