0:00.0 | All right, welcome everybody. This is Derek Barner, joined by Rich Hoffman on this week's Sixers Beat, a part of the CLNS Media Network. |
0:25.6 | How you doing, Rich? |
0:27.1 | I'm good, man. We're finally back in the swing of things. |
0:30.0 | We are. We said last week pretty soon there would be balls bouncing, and there were balls bouncing. |
0:35.2 | In the Sixers training facility at Candin, New Jersey, |
0:37.8 | there were presumably balls that were being dribbled. Before that, it's just we didn't have any |
0:43.2 | access to that, and it wasn't officially sanctioned team practices. But we are here now. You have |
0:49.4 | four days, basically, of training camp in basketball, which seems comically small, and quite frankly it is. But that's sort of the era that we are in and we get to cover those. And then pretty soon they will be scrimaging down in Delaware. Yeah. It's a good time. And we got to see a little bit of a scrimmage at the end of today's practice, which is, I think usually it's reserved for the last day of training camp, but it was |
1:11.8 | good that we got to see a little five-on-five action today. |
1:15.5 | Hey, maybe we'll get two days. |
1:17.3 | Who knows? |
1:18.0 | Maybe. |
1:18.8 | I'm not sure. |
1:19.5 | I think some people might have filmed too much or something, so I'm not holding my breath |
1:24.4 | on that one. |
1:24.9 | But, you know, it is funny when you finally get to see. |
1:30.2 | You can't let that video get out there. |
1:32.2 | Otherwise, other teams might figure out what the Malone line is and you can't. |
1:35.3 | Yeah, no, you can't do that. |
1:37.3 | But you do want to take away so much because you're just, I mean, you haven't seen NBA basketball in such a long time, but it's, you know, you find yourself in the middle of the skirmage thinking, okay, it doesn't really matter that How old Netto hit a three there? I mean, it's cool, good for him, I'm sure it helps. But yeah, I guess it's not that big of a deal. But it was fun to see for sure. |
2:01.0 | Well, there's two things about a scrimmage like this, especially when we all then go home and post video of it. And you're right. You'll post like one video of Netto making a three, and it's like, oh, that's relevant. No, it's really good. Back up point card. You got it. It's just like, on the one hand, It's the first action we see of the season. |
1:59.8 | It's the only real five-on-five action we have seen. And quite frankly, it's, you know, it's how, what are we, five times a year? Maybe we see five-on-five real scrimmages. Like, they'll get into January and they'll just be done practicing for the season. So it is, as much as you think we probably see of practice, we see much less. We see the last 10 minutes of it. It's usually all jumpers. You know, the first day of training camp, it was all jumpers. Today we came in. You know, on Wednesday we came in and they were doing some five on five, which was nice to see. |
