Welcome to episode 196 of FBI Retired Case File Review with Jerry Williams.

I'm a retired agent on a mission to show the public who the

FBI is and what the FBI does through my books, my blog, and my podcast case

reviews with former colleagues. Today we get to speak to

retired agent Doug Davis who served in the FBI for 29 years. His first two assignments right out of New Agents Training were to the

El Paso Division where he worked mostly interstate theft of stolen property

cases and to the San Juan Division where he worked bank fraud.

Then in 1998 he was transferred to the Sacramento Division where he worked to organize crime, drugs, health care fraud, and international

terrorism. In 2005 he was named Assistant Legal Attachate Alet to the FBI office in Mexico City

where he was assigned to fugitive and kidnapping matters.

In this episode, Doug Davis reviews five different fugitive cases,

explains the unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, UFAT process, and the difference in having a

fugitive deported or extradited from Mexico back to the United States to face justice.

He found the assignment to hunt fugitives in Mexico to be one of his most rewarding assignments.

His last assignment before retiring was as the Salt Lake City Division's Chief Division

Council, where he headed up the office's in-house legal team.
