We're getting set for the crucial third game of the 1956 World Series.

The New York Yankees against the Brooklyn Dodgers, and the scene is shifted from

Ebbets Field and Brooklyn to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

The Yankees come up to this one in a rather precarious situation.

For the first time in their 22 World Series participations,

they find themselves two games down after only two games played.

In order to rescue the championship,

the Yankees are confronted with a tremendous task

of having to beat the Dodgers in four out of five possible remaining games.

And that's a rough assignment.

For in the first two games of this series, the Dodgers have rocked 11 Yankee pitchers for 21 hits,

including four doubles and three homers.

The Dodgers are red hot, but the Yankees are determined to prove their comeback ability.

They recall that a year ago at this stage of the World Series, they have the Dodgers down by two games, and seemingly over a barrel.

A change in scenery last year from Yankee Stadium to Evans Field worked wonders for the Brooks.
