Gillette presents the World Series.

This afternoon, we bring you the fifth game between the champions of the American and National

League to New York Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals from Sportsman's Park in St. Louis.

As in all series games for the past five seasons, your radio host is the Gillette Safety Razor Company,

which broadcast banneline sports events such as the Kentucky Derby, football ball games,

and major boxing bouts for your entertainment month in and month out. And this is Red Barber

with Bob Elson and Bill Corum on deck to give you a clear, accurate words-eye picture of every

players it's played. Right now, down on the floor, Sportsman's Park, the Yankees are finishing

their infield workout. And as soon as they taper off from that, the groundkeepers will take

over, and then the ballgame itself in roughly 14 minutes. I know you want to know who will be

the pitches, and you won't be surprised at all. It's the two big right-handers, the strong men, the aces. Spud Chandler is coming back for a second time. He pitched and won the opener. Chandler, who won 20 games and lost four in the American League, who is one and two all told in World Series competition.

Mort Cooper is coming back for the second time.

He's the only winner for the Cardinals so far this fall classic,

and Cooper against the Yankees in the World Series is a game and a game.

He lost one last year, and of course it won this year,

pitching magnificently in a very dark and grieved hour.

Cooper was 21 in the regular season.

So the two big right-handers, the strong men, are going to go.

For the Yankees, they're going back to the batting order, just as they had it against Cooper,

which was in game too.

That means Cressetti, leading off at short.
