Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen of the radio audience.

Today we're out at the Polar Ground, that historic old home of the New York Giant,

nestled in the Lee of Pugns Bluff on the island of Manhattan.

The occasion, of course, is the playing of the second annual All-Star baseball game

between the outstanding performers of the National and the American League.

And boy, what an aggregation of fall saucers are wandering around there, down there on that

field right now.

The pick of the world.

No question about that.

The crowd is tremendous, the stands attacked all the way around.

If you don't know the polo grounds, I'll just tell you quickly that it is a double-decked affair running about four-fifth to five-sixth of the way around the entire enclosure.

There's only a small part of the grounds out in center field, which is devoted to the bleachers.

The rest is all double-deck grandstands.

The grass looks as

though it were absolutely as fine as the finest type of golf course dreams. It's perfect out there

today, and Henry Fabian has certainly done a great job. Every seat in the house is filled now,

almost at least. I can't see any vacancies any place from my place up here in the

second tier off

third base.

It's just about a capacity crowd right now

and undoubtedly every inch

of the standing room will be taken
