Summary

Jim was recently asked to record a training session on the topic of the power of building relationships for business success. In this training he shares the timeless truths that have served the most successful leaders and business builders of all time. Don't make the mistake of thinking "building relationships" is simply a matter of being kind to strangers and making a few friends along the way (those are good things of course, but there's far more to be learned!) Being intentional, proactive and creative in your relational efforts is vital and your business will flourish if you do it right. This training session gives specifics and plenty of examples.

Hello, my friend. Welcome back to Silent Sales Machine Radio. This is your host, Jim Cochrum, from

0:07.6

silentjim.com. And I've got a resource today that I almost didn't share with you, but I decided

0:15.3

after giving it some thought that it's something that at least most, if not the majority of the

0:20.6

listeners of this show, would benefit from and enjoy. And it's something that at least most, if not the majority of the listeners of this show

0:21.4

would benefit from and enjoy. And it's some content that I recorded recently. I was asked by

0:27.0

my son Trey, who has consulting clients and he's working with them. And he came to me and he said,

0:32.9

hey, dad, would you record some content with some specific action items and steps that people can take in regard to

0:39.3

being strategic and building the right kind of relationships in their business.

0:44.8

Now, two thoughts.

0:46.0

Man, that's a cool question to have your 19-year-old come to you and ask, isn't it?

0:49.2

That was pretty cool.

0:50.7

And it was an honor for him to ask me that.

0:52.5

And of course, I obliged and recorded. And after

0:55.5

giving some thought and taking some notes before I began recording, I realized I've kind of compiled

1:01.2

into one session some of the best advice I've ever received in regards to building genuine,

1:10.2

strategic relationships. And the reason genuine is important is because

1:13.7

you don't ever want to use people. Every relationship you have should be genuine and come from a place

1:18.5

of genuine care and, if you will, love for that other person. But at the same time, being very

1:24.8

strategic about that and making sure you're pursuing

1:27.8

relationships the right way. One of the truths I point out, for example, is something that

1:33.3

Kyle Newton on our team pointed out to me at one point when he said, every challenge you'll face,

1:39.0

the solution is a person. I love that. So specifically, what does that mean? You can be very strategic in the type of people
