A quickie before we get started.

Many of you get in touch with us looking for book recommendations,

and we try to suggest three new ones each month.

Our selection for October hopefully offers something for everyone.

First up is Monty's Men by historian John Buckley.

It tells the story of the British army from D-Data V-E-Day,

and takes a new and very fresh look at the quality of the men

who fought from Normandy to the Baltic

and how the army grew and developed.

We think you'll find this take absolutely fascinating.

It's certainly out in my eyes.

Next up is volume two in Spike Milligan's legendary war memoirs.

This one's called Rommel Ganahoo.

It covers Milligan's time in Africa in 1943

during Operation Torch.

If you enjoyed Adolf Hitler, my partner is downfall,

you will love this.

Book three is by a less well-known writer called Alexander Baron,

who turned his experiences fighting with the Pioneer Corps

into a series of novels and short stories.
