Summary

Today, I report on a behind-the-scenes tour of the GRAMMYS I was lucky to take on Day One of artist rehearsals at Crypto Arena, relive adventures from the three JEFF BECK tribute concerts I played earlier this month, and share with you one of the most inspiring guitar performances I saw at this year's NAMM convention — PHILIP SAYCE's soul-stirring, fret-melting set in the Anaheim Hilton's cavernous lobby. In fact, Sayce was so mind-bogglingly great that night, I decided to include in this episode an ENCORE of our May, 2022, interview/jam, recorded at his home in Los Angeles. ALSO: Hope you enjoyed the Eric Gales episode, which posted last week. Today's and last week's episodes are presented by Guitar Player and guitarplayer.com

to North Carolina to do that interview. So make sure you

check it out and write nice reviews and stuff to help spread the word. Share it with your friends.

Really appreciate that. No guitar is safe. Podcasts the guitar show where guitar heroes plug in.

And then today, wow, so just to catch you up on stuff, the Grammys are happening.

I went to a backstage sort of tour, a technical tour of the crypto arena, you know, the home

of the Lakers. Giant building gets bigger every time I walk in there. Got to be like 500 luxury

1:09.9

boxes who's just stacked to the ceiling. And then there's

1:13.1

nosebleed seats on top of that. But anyhow, walking around the whole place, all these risers

1:19.8

for all the different artists that are going to play, all these different stations, like there's

1:23.1

a team of people that just handle the wireless mics. There's a team of people that handle the

1:26.8

walkie-talkies. There's a team of people that mix the show. That's mind-boggling. We got to go in

1:32.9

these trucks that have so much gear in there and the fanciest mixing desks. It looks like they could

1:38.5

run SpaceX and two incredible world-class engineers, Eric Schilling and John Harris.

1:45.0

They mix all the bands. So if you're watching the Grammys,

1:48.0

either one of them will be mixing the band you're seeing. They trade off with each artist that comes on.

1:54.0

So they kind of go, they ping pong back and forth, and they run it. It's all live.
