I'm a grown man who never read the Percy Jackson books as a kid. I read them as an adult because I was on a quest to determine if society had been sleeping on that book series. And I said, yes. And now I'm seeing if society has also been sleeping on the Heroes of Olympus series, and I'm joined today by a new voice for the podcast, someone who recently came across my

podcasting life recently by learning of their fantastic show that aged well. It's Paul Kaila. Paul.

How's it going? It's going great. I am so excited to be here. I feel like I have been

training for this since I was a kid, and I had that big gold and orange book, the name of which I can either pronounce nor spell. Dauleary's. Yeah, DeLayers. Whatever it is. Yeah, just reading that over and over and over again. Like, my family actually was religious and we worship the Greek gods. Like that was how much I read that book. I'm thrilled to be here.

Wait, like legitimately? Or no, no, legitimately. That was sarcasm, to be clear.

I have received emails from people who do saying that I have not had enough reverence for folks

who believe in Hellenistic religions. So don't worry, you're good. Perfect. Fantastic. But yes,

so what is your history with the Percy Jackson books? When did you read them? Give me the story.

I read them probably starting in my late 20s. I kind of heard about them. I always liked

mythology, obviously, and all of that stuff. And I started hearing with these books that were great.

I think I started reading them after the first series was finished. So I read the entire first series
