After Lavin' on Belfail to show up this week, we had takes.

The local media was filled with Lavin' on Bel contract takes.

By now you guys probably know mine.

To maximize the amount of money that Bel was going to make, it made sense for him to

play this year and then get a new contract next year.

Yes, I understand that he could have gotten hurt.

I understand the Steelers could have run him into the ground.

But an injury was not a guarantee and a career altering injury was definitely not a guarantee.

And Bel's sitting out sort of showed us that his production was replaceable in the Steelers

offense.

And it's funny, when I say that, I'm always met with a response of, well, James Conner's

really good, so that's not entirely true.

I mean, James Conner was also drafted with a third round compensatory pick.

And not only is James Conner technically out producing Lavin' on Bel, but this isn't

the first time this has happened in the Pittsburgh offense.

Deangelo Williams at 32 years old was pretty strong in the Steelers offense with Bel's

sideline as well.
