Our guest today is Chris Offett.

He's worked as a writer on the TV show's True Blood and Weeds, and is the author of several novels,

including Kentucky Straight, The Good Brother, and Out of the Woods.

And we'll be speaking with him today about his new memoir, My Father, the Pornographer,

which describes his difficult relationship with his father,

science fiction writer Andrew Offett.

When Andrew died in 2013,

Chris was left with the task of sorting through his father's papers.

Chris had always believed that his father wrote only a small amount of pornography to help pay the bills,

but he discovered that in fact virtually all of his father's 400 novels were pornographic.

My father, the pornographer, is a fascinating look into the life of a brilliant

cantankerous man and a haunting reflection on the uneasy relationship between

creative obsession and family life. And now here's our interview with Chris
