It's a cold summer night in 1884, outside Nolan's hotel in Mingusville, Montana.

A weary traveler strides through the streets, exhausted from the road.

He's had a rough year.

He recently lost his mother and his wife.

To escape the pain, the traveler has treased himself to a private soldier, a horseback

ride through the badlands and prairies of the Dakota and Montana territories.

He's been riding long and hard.

Tonight there's only one thing his heart desires, quiet drink.

But as the traveler approaches the entrance to the hotel's tavern, two gunshots ring out

from inside.

It's one of these places.

The traveler stops in his tracks, annoyed.

He's clearly trouble in the tavern, but it's a cold night and there's nowhere else to

go, so he pushes open the door and walks in anyway.

Inside there's a small group of customers and a lone bartender doing his best to deal

with an unruly drunk.

A shabby looking fellow in a broad hat with two cocked guns, one in each hand.

He sees the traveler walk in.

Hey, four eyes.

You thirsty?

The traveler is used to people making fun of his glasses.

It's been a recurring theme throughout his life, but tonight he's not in the mood.
