| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to the Mark Rose podcast. |
| 0:12.5 | You know, years ago, I remember attending this talk that I was just on the beginning |
| 0:17.8 | of my journey, you know, I was discovering, you know, what did I want to do with my life? |
| 0:23.1 | I had this calling to want to talk about relationships. |
| 0:26.8 | And I also had this sense that I had this spiritual aspect of me that I had been severed from, that I had disconnected myself from, this idea of being connected to more than just |
| 0:39.1 | myself, you know, being connected to you, being connected to the planet, I wouldn't have been |
| 0:44.3 | able to verbalize it that way at the time. I hadn't done things like group meditations or |

| 1:37.4 | it tried to teach me when I was in school was to use shame to try to get us to, you know, |
| 1:43.2 | behave certain ways or totally disassociate from |
| 1:45.9 | our sexuality. So there was no empowerment. It was fear. And fear does garner control, but it doesn't |
| 1:54.2 | garner control that is respecting the desires of whatever, you know, they're trying to achieve |
| 2:00.1 | or get whatever behavior they're trying to get a group to do. |
| 2:04.1 | And, you know, you see that in the way that governments navigate situations with their citizens. |
| 2:10.7 | And so I had a really hard time with that. |
