Welcome to the show. Hello Zubi. How are you doing Magna?

I'm doing very good. Awesome. Have you done a lot of podcasts before or is this nice?

I've done a few fantastic. So I've done a brief intro right there but for people who are

not familiar with who you are and what you do please tell us a little bit about yourself.

I'm a psychologist by trade and the areas that I'm interested in sort of fairly wide ranging.

So if I'm really interested in decision making so how we make decisions in lots of different

contexts and what the basic mechanisms are. I'm also interested in the unconscious and what

claims are made and substantiated by the evidence. I'm also interested in agency and control

like those kinds of things and also I'm interested where psychologists invited to make recommendations

about interventions that in theory is supposed to help people make better decisions and behave better

and behave in ways that also serve the public good. And it's been one thing that might help explain

all of my approaches to these different areas is that I'm fairly critical. I take a sort of

fairly critical eye to things. I don't tend to quickly assume that just because a claim is made

it's valid until it's sufficiently scrutinized. So you follow the scientific method? That's not

allowed anymore. Generally I try to be fairly stringent in the work that I do even if maybe others

aren't. I'm curious about the behavioral aspects that you mentioned there. So can you give us

some examples of what you mean by that? You mean the kinds of interventions. So often these are

referred to as nudges and they are used by all manner of industries both the public and

private sector organisations like trying to use them. And before I explain
