So, before we get into the book and everything, let's talk about you a little bit.

You said you're in Montana.

Did you grow up there or are you a transplant?

I am one of the horrible transplants who has ruined Montana. I grew up in North Carolina. I went to

college up at Yale in Connecticut and then basically high-tailed it out of

the East Coast and have lived in various places either a little bit

abroad but mostly in the Western United States ever since.

I was a research fellow over the Hoover Institution at Stanford University for a number of years, which was a great I had five

five kids at Stanford University for a number of years,

which was a great job, but I just didn't, I had five kids,

didn't want to raise them in California for lots of reasons

and just decided Montana would be a better place for our family. of Well, it's just, it's so crowded. I mean, where we were was kind of the worst in some ways,

although in other ways it was the best. It had a lot of opportunities.

I was in the heart of Silicon Valley.
