0:16.0	Okay, so let me talk a little bit about what we do in my field. In religious studies, it's a
0:23.0	multidisciplinary field. And some... A little bit closer. Okay, some of us are archaeologists,
0:29.5	some are historians, some are a combination of those. And our method is that we take a step back from belief. We study belief in how belief
0:42.1	informs practices and worldwide movements and things like that. Religion is a very powerful force.
0:49.0	People will die for their religious belief. So we're academics and we don't actually, like, I don't tell my students what I believe
0:58.8	because I don't think it's helpful.
1:01.6	We're learning about religion.
1:03.1	We're not, I'm not advocating religion.
1:06.5	But I personally, yes, believe in God.
1:09.2	But it's not part of my field.
1:11.6	It's, you know, we have atheists.
1:13.6	Some of the best people in my field are atheists.
1:15.6	Oh, okay.
1:16.6	So it's not being a minister or a priest or something like that.
1:19.6	I actually did get a master's degree along with priests and formation, Jesuits in formation,
1:26.6	from the Jesuit School of Theology, which was affiliated with UC Berkeley, it is part
1:32.4	of the Graduate Theological Union, which is very similar to Harvard Divinity School, but
1:36.7	Berkeley's version.
1:38.9	And then I went on to get a PhD from Syracuse University in Religious Studies, which is
1:43.9	a field, a field of international
1:45.8	academics who study religion. A lot of people are religious who study religion, but a lot of
