Summary

This is the episode is part 2 of a study on Revelation. The risen Christ sends letters to the churches in Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira. Jesus tells them the churches the things that they have been doing right and what they have been doing wrong.

0:15.3	Welcome to the Bible Study podcast. I'm your host, Chris Christensen. I will tell you this episode will have a little more

0:26.3	excuse any background noise that may happen. So we started a study of Revelation, and as I said,
0:33.5	I don't promise to finish this study, but we're going to continue on at least through the
0:36.6	beginning of the book. And the beginning of the book starts with letters to the seven churches.
0:42.2	And so Revelation 2 is all letters and it's letters to individual churches. And it goes like this.
0:49.3	To the church in Ephesus. To the angel of the church in Ephesus write,
0:53.6	these are the words of him who holds
0:55.3	the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lamp stands. I know your
1:00.6	deeds, your hard work, and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men,
1:05.6	and that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.
1:12.1	You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you. You have
1:18.5	forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen. Repent and do the things
1:24.2	you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your
1:28.5	lampstand from its place, but you have this in your favor. You hate the practices of the Nicolations,
1:34.3	which I also hate. He who has an ear let him hear what the spirit says to the churches.
1:40.5	To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the
1:45.2	paradise of God. So this letter has a form that the other letters will take as well, and that is
1:51.3	talking to the different churches about individual specific things that they are doing, and usually
1:56.8	starting with the things they are doing right, and then talking about the things that they are doing wrong.
