I'm your host Heather Ashley, and today's case is at a fruitland Idaho.

5-year-old Michael Vaughn was this happy energetic little boy who loved trucks, dirt, doing living room parkour, hanging out with his mom and dad, brandy and Tyler, his grandpa who lived with him, and of course his three siblings.

He had two older siblings he looked up to and a baby sister that he loved to take care of.

The house that Vaughn's lived in was a cute little three bedroom rancher in a small neighborhood in fruitland.

It was a quiet neighborhood where all the neighbors were friendly and the kids would play outside together, even if there was an age gap.

It was the kind of neighborhood where you would wave at your neighbors when you passed by and strike up conversations when you're out on walks.

And everyone seemed to look out for each other's kids while they were playing outside.

For all intents and purposes, it seemed like the perfect place to raise a family.

But all of that changed on Tuesday, July 27th, 2021.

At around 7.30pm that evening, police got a report of a missing child.

A code red alert was pushed out to local residents to be on the lookout for 5-year-old Michael Vaughn who had last been seen around 6.30pm in the area of Southwest 9th Street in Arizona Avenue, pretty much the corner of the street by his house.

But that was really the only detail released about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Usually you hear something like, he was playing the front yard and I turned around for a second and he disappeared.
