In this episode, I want to talk to you about evangelistic preaching.

2 Timothy chapter 4, verse 5 5 Paul instructs Timothy and of course thus Christ instructs the church and its ministers as for you always be sober minded endure suffering do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

That third exhortation or imperative in that verse says, do the work of an evangelist.

But this instruction is given to Timothy, who is a pastor, teacher,

elder in the church at Ephesus. We call, of course, these letters to Timothy pastoral epistles

because they are about pastoral work. And yet, this pastoral work in which

gift of evangelism but whether or not he had the quote unquote gift of evangelism. He had the duty. He had a sacred duty to do the work of an evangelist. And so does everyone who preaches the word. The commands of 2 Timothy 4 are inextricably tied to the commands of 2 Timothy 4 5 we are to preach the word

and a part of that assignment that holy assignment is to do the work of an evangelist

think about it this way as you stand preach, typically there are three different groups in whatever congregation you are ministering to. There are true believers. Those who have repented of their sin, put their trust in Jesus Christ as their savor and Lord and are walking in obedience

to him. Their need is to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. There are also false

believers. These are people who are walking under a false presumption of salvation.
