Of course I'm going to open this week's mailbag show with some talk around the two point

conversion conversation.

If you didn't see it on Monday night, the giants were down by 14 and they scored a touchdown.

After doing so, they opted to go for a two point try instead of kicking the extra point.

So they were down 8 and they didn't care to be down 7.

They went for 2.

And everyone lost their minds, especially when that two point try failed.

If you don't quite understand the logic behind going for 2, that's totally fine.

But there's a lot of smart and really pretty basic math that goes into it.

The main point that I think a lot of people have missed with the whole debate is that

there seems to be this assumption that forcing overtime means a team wins.

If we assume the giants would score twice and kick the extra point after both touchdowns

to force overtime, that's obviously not the case.

Hypothetically, they'd still only have a 50-50 shot to win.

Meanwhile when you go for 2, you're creating an opportunity to win in regulation.

And when you go for 2 on the first touchdown instead of the second touchdown, you're able

to make up for a failure.
